"Most companies spend heavily on data and then admire it like art. Unless your suppliers’ debt maturities are going to be a Jeopardy category, there’s no financial impact. AI has improved this dramatically. AlphaSense is terrifyingly good — its pre-built interpretations surface more risk and sentiment in a week than a traditional sourcing team does in a year. But pre-built only gets you so far. The real edge comes from shaping that intelligence inside operations and supply chain to manufacture leverage. At Kalibr, here are three workflows we use to turn AlphaSense into outcomes: 1. Leverage grids that rank counterparties by weakness and force concessions in sequence. 2. Outlier signals in 10-K risk factors or earnings calls that become Keystone issues linking message to deal structure. 3. Telus-driven dollarization that reframes your value in five-year EBITDA impact. Precision isn’t the point. Directionality is. Intelligence is cheap. Margin is scarce." - Ian Myers, Energy Strategy Consulting at Kalibr
First, the growing accessibility of expert networks has been a major and meaningful shift for us. Reading annual reports is still valuable—but often biased. Executives want to show their best side. The emergence of platforms like Tegus, AlphaSense, and InPractice gives us the ability to read interviews with former employees, competitors, clients, and suppliers. We believe these interviews give us a more realistic view of the risks and challenges. For example, in recent months we discovered that a company’s president was poorly regarded by colleagues and that the work environment was tense. A few months later, she was dismissed." It's my job to get up to speed on companies and markets faster and better than everyone else. Tegus makes me the expert in the room.

What do you like best about the product?
Man, where do I even begin? Honestly, the speed at which I can find stuff is just bonkers. Before AlphaSense, I swear I spent half my life just searching for relevant documents or earnings call transcripts. Now, it's like a superpower. I remember this one time, I was scrambling to get some competitive intel for a last-minute presentation, and I needed to find mentions of a specific new product launch from a competitor. Within minutes, AlphaSense had pulled up a bunch of earnings call transcripts and news articles that would've taken me hours to unearth otherwise. It's like having a super-smart research assistant who never sleeps. Plus, the sentiment analysis is pretty neat too – sometimes it just helps confirm what I'm already feeling about a company, which is always reassuring.
What do you dislike about the product?
Okay, so it's not all rainbows and unicorns, right? My biggest gripe, and maybe it's just me, is that sometimes it can feel a little overwhelming. There's just so much data and so many features, that when you're first starting out, it's like drinking from a firehose. I remember thinking, "Where do I even click first?" It's definitely gotten easier over time, but for a newbie, it could be a bit much. And, once in a while, the search can be a tiny bit too broad, so you get some noise in the results. Nothing major, but sometimes you gotta refine your search a couple of times.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
AlphaSense is a lifesaver when it comes to tackling a few really annoying problems that used to eat up so much of my time and energy. First off, it solves the whole "siloed information" problem. Before AlphaSense, I'd be digging through a million different places to find what I needed – company filings on the SEC website, news articles from various publications, investor call transcripts on different IR sites, analyst reports scattered across different firm portals. It was a nightmare! AlphaSense pulls all that stuff, and even premium content like expert interviews and broker research, into one place. It's like having a super-organized library where everything is instantly accessible. This is a huge benefit because I'm not wasting time switching between platforms or worrying that I'm missing a crucial piece of information. Everything relevant is right there. Another big one it solves is the "needle in a haystack" problem. You know, when you're looking for something really specific in a mountain of text? Like, a subtle shift in a company's language about their supply chain, or a competitor mentioning a particular technology. Trying to find that manually using "Ctrl+F" on a bunch of PDFs? Forget about it! AlphaSense's AI-powered search, with its "Smart Synonyms" and all that jazz, is amazing at picking up on context and related terms. It actually understands what I'm looking for, even if I don't use the exact keywords.

Deep Research is a material improvement over prior iterations of generative solutions, the tool gets more granular while also searching a wider pool of sources. This allowed me to automate research projects that would have required scouring 10s of documents with, most importantly, no fear of hallucinations. Deep Research has allowed me to spend more time on the important tasks and less time sifting through 1000s of pages of filings, making me a more efficient analyst.
I think this is one of the most powerful tools that I have access to in terms of market intelligence where I want to make sure I'm maximizing my utilization.
My two frustrations with ChatGPT are that it makes up stuff and it gives you 100 line paragraphs of text when you want a simple answer. AlphaSense Generative Search gives you comprehensive bullet point answers that we can trust.
AlphaSense helps us get hard-to-find information, like competitor acquisitions. This feature has been very useful in keeping us updated and aiding our decision-making.
It's really useful for us to have AlphaSense because if we have a new client in a new region or a new service category, we can very quickly spin up the profile of what the market looks like in that region and then find trigger points that we can then use to establish our narrative, set our benchmarks and negotiate off of.
AlphaSense is the ‘modern’ research starting point. Instead of having a folder-based database like in the old days, I now use AlphaSense to help organize my watchlist. I like that I don’t have to download as many documents because they’re now easily accessible and searchable all in one platform.
Periodic alerts enable me to capture insights in real-time and communicate with my leadership. As a strategist, constantly monitoring changes in the marketplace is important, and AlphaSense enables me to tackle that.
As a competitive intelligence analyst, I need to be able to access near real-time data about the activities of competitors, what is happening in the market, and what issues need to be tracked that could potentially impact our market. AlphaSense helps me stay on top of key market trends as well as news that mentions competitors. I use AlphaSense on a weekly basis due to the quality of information. I also use AlphaSense to read analyst reviews and earnings calls. AlphaSense highlights sentiment, which makes it much easier to quickly understand a large amount of information and also makes it easier to send to higher-level executives since sentiment is marked up already.
Generative Search helps streamline the ability to consume information in a much more synthesized way, so you're not just reading 15 reports, but you're reading the most important part of those 15 reports for the subject matter that you're in.
Great customer service, and a good variety of coverage of reports. AlphaSense carries more than Refinitiv.
I've been playing with the generative search, which I absolutely love, by the way. I think it's just fantastic. It's like I have a new analyst friend that has the information at its fingertips and can take me to the actual document the information came from." - Cynthia Paul
Deep Research has saved us hours during initial due diligence for new ideas.
The AI enabled features of highlighting sentiments and the search function across various data inputs like, analyst reports, company issues documents and news all in one place make the search feature very powerful and saves us a lot of time in getting to the answers we are looking for.
I liked AlphaSense before Generative Search, but this adds a whole new layer of functionality that will allow new ways to use the platform even better.
AlphaSense has been useful in providing concise summaries of earnings calls and analyst reports. It has enhanced our peer and competitor research, making our workflow more efficient.
