It's very easy to use. You may use your own email to log in. There's also an option to write a non-encrypted message above the encrypted message. The encryption option is fairly easy to turn on and off depending on when you need it. Users can also revoke access to the email in case the message is incomplete, sent in error, or sent to the wrong recipient.
What do you dislike about the product?
We have clients that are non-tech savvy, so a brief prompt on how to open an encrypted email would help so the recipients can access the message easily on their end. Sometimes, we have to walk them through how to unlock the message.

Virtru has offered a great option to users such as our company to keep our documents on email encrypted and maintain HIPAA standards to ensure patient confidentiality. The option to revoke an encrypted email also helps in avoiding errors.
What do you like best about the product?
The best part about virtual is that you're able to revoke a message to avoid any data compromised in an email. It helped tremendously when a report was accidentally sent to the wrong customer.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only dislike or downside I've had with virtru is it inactivating in my email sometimes and having to figure out how to get it reactivated. In the beginning, it was a little frustrating.

Virtru helps with the process of sending out invoices to our healthcare providers and their detailed reports and keeping their data protected. It reassures our customers, which helps our company with their trust.

This extension is very user-friendly and easy to install. I use it on every email I send that entails private details such as personal identifiers, money amounts, and passwords.

Some of my older clients have trouble at times using Virtru. They often forget their passwords or have issues accessing them on their older computer models. However, their issues are almost always easily and quickly resolved.

Virtru is solving our once was, a common problem of security. We no longer have to worry about private emails being seen by those it does not belong to. This also helps with legality issues related to emailed private data.

It is very user-friendly. The extension for Gmail is very helpful, it switches Virtru on and off with just a switch.

It is easy to install. Support is good and timely. It helps to remind you if you have sent some sensitive data. The admin console is easy to navigate. Support site has lots of support documents for the user community.

Users have lots of trouble using it. If they don't prepare instructions for the recipient they have trouble opening it. Some users just can't seem to understand how it works even though it is pretty straightforward.

It's easy to encrpyt my emails using Virtru. I love the ease of opening encrypted emails.

I like that Virtru is a gmail product. Its easy to give new employees work email and they seem to be able to learn Virtu pretty easily.

We were required to use encrypted emails by one big contracts and even several years in our clients (the same ones who required us to encrypt emails) ask us weekly to send our emails unencrypted because they can't figure out how to open them.

Virtru makes it simple for a healthcare company like us to stay HIPAA compliant when sending information out to external clients, including government entities. HIPAA is awkward when trying to make the entirety of something compliant, but by locking down our tenant to nearly completely internal and using Virtru for any secure emails going external, it makes IT's life easier.
What do you dislike about the product?
In my personal experience, the only down side of Virtru is that the system is completely separate from Google. It does make setup a little longer but definitely not something worth saying no over. If there was a way to make things a little more integrated I think it'd be abosulutely perfect. For the compliance measure though, not a bad trade off.

With Virtru, we're able to keep company emails more HIPAA compliant by having a secure method of sending emails to external and internal users. This means we don't have to go through the trouble of setting up some google based authentication system or something similar and make HIPAA compliance for sending information a hassle or a risk.
What do you like best about the product?
Virtru's simple toggle button interface and clean UI within GMail makes it easy to use and to feel safe that encryption is being enabled. The UI for receiving, opening, and managing encrypted emails is also cleaner than any I have seen with competitor platforms.

A good number of our users are heavily reliant on Firefox rather than Chrome, but do not use MS Outlook either. It is fine with the relatively small amount encrypted emails those users need to initiate to switch over to Chrome when necessary to send an encrypted message, but if possible a Firefox plug-in would be helpful in unifying processes across all of our staff.

We relied on workarounds of and responding to partner's encrypted messages in order to send data through encrypted email or storing encrypted files on fileshares before acquiring our own encrypted email solution. We were instantly more assured of the security and safety of our practices once we implemented Virtru, and are able to communicate securely without second thought.

One of the biggest upsides is being able to cancel emails even after having sent them. This is still true.

Sometimes I will have to reinstall virtutru even when I didn't uninstall it. This is still true.

Virtru is a user-friendly encryption service that does not require any additional steps when sending daily emails. My favorite part is that I can have the encryption service as a default email setting in Gmail - because of this, I have never forgotten to encrypt an email containing private health information.

The only aspect of Virtru that is sometimes difficult has been for some clients/recipients on the receiving end who are new to Virtru. I wish there were a way to provide the recipient exact steps of opening an encrypted email for the first time.

I have been serving as a COVID-19 Outbreak Investigation Specialist with the local county health department, and the majority of my communication to local businesses, long-term care facilities, and congregate living settings have been sent and received through Virtru. This service has created a flow of effective and timely communication of private health information from local public health to healthcare providers and local businesses in the community.

Coworkers have expressed difficulties in that sometimes their Virtru becomes disabled for no apparent reason.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is easy to disseminate sensitive client information to the many workers who are working with them! Additionally, communicating about clients through email is a lot easier thanks to Virtru!
What do you like best about the product?
The fact that it provides a security check before you send each email. It comes in handy and helps avoid sending an email that should be encrypted, which is not. It is also helpful to have the 'buzz words' flag and ask you to check if it should be encrypted or not - you can never be too sure.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the speed of sending emails is a bit slow. It would be good if it kept an email open for a few extra seconds - sometimes you would click off the email by accident then have to wait again for it to open while Virtru does its thing. Also, writing the word 'password' in an email is sometimes annoying as the doublecheck will 'flag' so you think you have sent an email when you have not. Another downside is accessing emails on your mobile is occasionally quite tricky. Sometimes I can get into an email that is encrypted without a problem, and sometimes I can not. Perhaps that is a hardware issue and not a software one.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would recommend this due to the security you have and cofidence when sending files and using emails specifically. Occasionally forwarding an email will be a hinderane and quite often you have to de-select the encryption before sending
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is much easier to send files over Virtru instead of having to set-up an SFTP or some other secure file transfer protocol. This is especially good when coming into contact with new customers as it is always a bit of a lengthy process setting up SFTPs.
