The lack of friction is what made it immediately valuable to me. Virtru is, in most ways, seamless. I can click a button, and I can protect a message. I can even dive deep and protect that message in different ways… for example, let that message expire or set other preferences with regard to its visibility and security.
Google has some good DLP blocking, but I really liked Virtru’s method of being able to secure, share, and track data instead of just blocking it.
Just clicking the button at the top of the email to turn on Virtru encryption is a much simpler way to secure the email compared to other encryption tools.
There are a lot of environments — ours is one of them — where there are strict installation limits on the user side: They need to go to the IT department to install any tool. So, with the other encryption products I was reviewing, I wanted to make sure it was not just secure, but I was also evaluating convenience for the people who are receiving our encrypted emails. With Virtru, they don’t need to install software, they don’t need to create a password or account. It’s only one click, and everything will be decrypted and controlled from our side.
I can honestly say that I’m extremely glad we migrated to the cloud. Migrating has improved ease of access and streamlined our systems to save us a great deal of money in the long run. Another benefit is that we don’t have to worry about upgrades either – it’s all handled on the cloud. Over the years I’ve been working in IT, it is rare for a project to go flawlessly, but with the help of Virtru’s data-centric security offering, our migration really came close.
Virtru is literally the only application out there that we've identified that actually supports PHI in the manner that we need. It's been a staple application within our environment for years. The value that Virtru adds is ease of use and encryption that works right ‘out of the box.’ I can just set this up, deploy this, and then not have to worry about it going forward. And, as a small startup with a very small security team, that is a luxury that not many products deliver on. Some of our EDRs (endpoint detection and response) tools, they just require a lot more tweaking and a lot more hand holding, and, Virtru is not like that. It really strengthens the stance and reputation of yourself as a company.
Stop beating your head against the wall, trying to figure out TLS and S/MIME, and email encryption, and just use Virtru.
It just bakes right into the natural flow of email because email is still part of everybody's lives. And there's no learning curve. There's no ‘You’ve got to log into this other thing. You gotta learn something new.’ Virtru is very good at merging itself very passively into the concept of sending a secure email. And that allows us to provide a low friction point for people to interact with our customer support teams or risk teams should that need [arise]. They don't have to jump through a bunch of hurdles. They don't have to have institutional knowledge on how to do something. They just do what they've done normally, and we don't have to stop.
Our clients are no longer getting frustrated and irritated with our customer service because they can't see a secured email.
After nearly two years as Virtru customers, we are very pleased with the product and ease of use, specifically the direct Gmail integration.
